A little about us.......

Ocean Heights Farm & Engage Saddles the Jersey Shore

Our family has been involved in the NJ horse community for over four generations (on both sides of the family) we have a deep love of horses and equestrian sports.

Kim has competed in Eventing to Novice (yes a bit chicken cross country) , Dressage to 4th level and Show Jumping to 4'3. Currently Kim is competing her Dutch stallion Unico in show jumping and doing a bit of field hunting. She has trained many young horses from the "ground" up with Richard Ulmann. She brings with her experience long lining, backing/breaking, over coming "problem" areas and training in dressage to 4th level / Show Jumping high Amt.Owner. Many hours mucking stalls has also made her a professional pitch fork & tractor operator....

She holds a B.A. in Marketing, B.A. in Sociology as well as currently finishing her Masters in elementary education. Engage Saddles started as a full service tack shop, then evolved when seeking the perfect fit saddle for her long legs and her warmbloods conformation she came across Black Country Country Saddles. Kim believes that Saddle fitting became her calling, as it gave her a chance to combine years of equestrian knowledge with her career. Kim has studied equine anatomy as well as the bio mechanics horse back riding. The fit of the saddle can make all the difference in the performance of a horse, comfort and effective communication are absolutely necessary!!

Jon and Kim have completed training courses in Equine Reproduction (stallion collection and husbandry). Kim's husband Jon holds a M. S. in Chemistry and already has extensive lab experience as a bio-chemist working his "day job" in the medical research field. James is currently too small to work but hopes to take over the business when he is much much much older, if you recieve an return email from James generally it looks something like this...&*@)$()&_@)*KNM(@ J

Engage Saddles works with Black Country Saddles, Frank Baines Saddlery from the UK as well as Smith Worthington (USA) she offers reflocking and adjusting of other brands. We offer saddle fitting services for saddles that we feel maintain a level of quality and craftsmanship, ordering from smaller saddlers that we often can speak with directly. The leather choices (some available in all french calf, pittards leather, buffalo) and attention to detail is something not found even in saddles that sell for more money . The saddles we offer do not have a high "mark up" or distributor cost added on their product. Black Country Saddles for example is a small shop with 4-5 Master Saddlers, so each saddle is made from scratch the day I place the order. Black Country Saddles are NOT mass produced, and they do NOT simply offer you various "off the peg" models that may work, they actually make your saddle allowing you more options and choices. Frank Baines Saddlery is a family firm, members of which have connections with the trade going back almost 150 years. The family business continues the tradition and is renowned world wide for its products and their quality. The Company have regularly won prestigious competitions such as Best Made Saddle, held by the
Worshipful Company of Saddlers, on no more than seven occasions - certainly more than any other participant and also the best product award at International Trade Fairs such as Spoga and BETA.

Our show horses are offered for sale on occasion we EXPECT them to not only show, but trail ride, hilltop, and expose them to many different situations. They have been handled extensively, turned out daily, fed Purina & Triple Crown feeds, receive regular vet, farrier care, and treated like family members. I would be happy to speak with you about any of our horses, all vet records are released when a horse is sold by us.

Match between owner and horse is most important, not only for you but for us as well to be assured that our babies and trained horses go to the best situations and homes possible to be great partners for their new owners. Trainer Richard Ulmann has worked with us for 20+ years he is currently in the U.S, 6 months of the year teaching dressage and jumping clinics you can contact him through me or Peggy Massler.
